| Matthew
Beacom |
| |
Matthew Beacom is now Metadata Librarian
at Yale University Library. Matthew received his MLS from the University
of Maryland in 1989. From 1989 to 1995, he cataloged books and pamphlets
for the Rare Book Team at Yale; from 1995 to 2004, he cataloged online
resources. Matthew has been a member-at-large of ALCTS CCS Executive
Committee and a member of CC:DA. He was formerly the ALA Representative
to the Joint Steering Committee for Revision of Anglo-American Cataloguing
Rules (JSC), a member of the JSC Format Variation Working Group, and
chair of the JSC. He has been a frequent speaker on cataloging and
metadata topics. |
| Liz
Bishoff |

Liz Bishoff is currently
the Vice President, Digital Collections and Preservation Service,
OCLC. Previously she was Executive Director of the Colorado Digitization
Program. Liz has worked with libraries and museums in Alabama, North
Carolina, Missouri, Minnesota, New Mexico, and California on various
aspects of their collaborative digitization initiatives. Liz has led
the development of collaborative best practices in metadata, including
the recently released Western States Metadata Dublin Core Best Practices.
Prior to her current position, Liz was Vice President, Member Services
at OCLC. Her responsibilities include management of OCLC relationships
with external organizations, including the national libraries, professional
library-related organizations and government relations. Liz has extensive
experience in public libraries. She was the principal librarian for
Support Services at Pasadena (California) Public Library. Additionally
she has been a medium size public library director, school media specialist,
and cataloger in her 33 year library career. She has taught in the
graduate library programs at Dominican University (formerly Rosary
College) and Emporia State University. Liz is currently a member of
the ALA Council and is a past ALA Treasurer and former member of the
ALA Board. Liz holds an MLS from Rosary College, and has post-graduate
work in public administration at Roosevelt University. |
| Samuel
Dempsey |

Samuel Dempsey is Director, Data Management
and Development at Baker & Taylor. Dempsey has worked on the ONIX
standard since its inception in 1999 and is an active member of BISG’s
BISAC Metadata Committee. Prior to joining Baker & Taylor, Dempsey
was Editorial Director and Director of Data Acquisition for Books
In Print at R.R. Bowker, and Senior Managing Editor at Marquis Who’s
Who. Dempsey earned an A.M. from the University of Chicago and a B.A.
from the University of Notre Dame. He lives with his wife and two
children in Charlotte, N.C. |
| Sandy
Hurd |

Sandy Hurd has extensive experience in
the library industry. Sandy joined Innovative in February 2003 where
her responsibilities include marketing strategy and the launch of
Innovative's Electronic Resources Management software. Prior to Innovative,
Sandy served for three years as senior manager of library information
services at Northern Light Technology. In the 1990s, she spent over
seven years as assistant vice president and director of library automation
at EBSCO Subscription Services. Sandy has also held management positions
at the H.W. Wilson Company and Entree Corporation. She holds an M.S.
in library and information science from Simmons College. |
| Jane
Ouderkirk |

With more than thirty
years in library management, Jane Ouderkirk has worked in public,
special, and academic libraries. For the past twelve years she has
been at the Harvard College Library, first as Head of Cataloging and
as Head of Technical Services for the past four years. Jane has been
involved with library automation since the early '80s and believes
that the future of technical services is dependent upon the coordination
of local resources and vendor supplied services with decisions based
on cost analysis and patron-centered added value options. |
