Biographies

| Everett
Allgood is the Serials Cataloger at the New York University
Libraries. He is the Co-Chair (with Ed Jones) of the CONSER
Task Force on FRBR and Continuing Resources. Everett is also
the MARBI representative to the ALCTS Committee on Cataloging:
Description and Access (CC:DA). He earned a B.A. from Birmingham-Southern
College in Birmingham, Alabama. He then completed a Master’s
in the History of Art at Emory University in Atlanta, before
earning his M.L.S. from the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa.
Before joining the NYU Libraries in 1997, Everett directed a
three-year retrospective cataloging project at the Brooklyn
Historical Society funded by the Mellon Foundation. |

| Rick
Block is Head, Original and Special Materials Cataloging at
Columbia University. He is also an adjunct faculty member at
the Palmer School of Library and Information Science at Long
Island University and the Pratt Institute School of Information
and Library Science. Rick earned a Bachelor's degree in International
Relations from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and Masters
degrees in Political Science and Library Science from the University
of Wisconsin--Madison. Rick also teaches a one-day workshop
for the Metropolitan New York Library Council on cataloging
fundamentals. Rick is editor Voices of the Future, column in
The Serials Librarian. The column publishes papers submitted
as part of library school courses that professors recommend
for publication. |

| Karen
Calhoun, M.L.S., M.B.A., is Associate University Librarian for
Technical Services at Cornell University Library. A major contributor
to the development of Cornell's
Library Gateway and a frequent speaker on technical services
in the digital library, Karen's recent research and operational
interests have focused on the organization of electronic resources,
metadata, and library staff development. Currently she leads
the Cornell team that is co-developing ENCompass, a next generation
system that merges electronic and digital resources with traditional
library collections, with Endeavor Information Systems, Inc. |

| John
Degon has been at Assumption since November of 2002, first as
Reference/ Electronic Services Librarian and now as Head of
Reference and Instructional Services. Previously he was at Eastern
Connecticut State University for two years as Reference and
Instruction Librarian. John graduated from the Scholl of Library
and Information Science at University of Wisconsin-Madison in
2000. |

| Cathy
Kellum is Consulting Product Manager in WorldCat Services/Resource
Sharing at OCLC Online Computer Library Center, Inc. in Dublin,
Ohio. She has worked primarily with serials and interlibrary
loan during her library career spanning more than 20 years.
She holds both B.S. and M.A. degrees in Education with subject-area
concentrations in English, Dramatic Arts, Speech, and Psychology,
as well as an M.L.S degree. |

| Liz
Maisey is the Reference/Catalog Librarian at Assumption College.
Liz has worked in libraries since 1986 when she was hired to
work on the Retrospective Conversion Project for Wellesley College.
While working at Wellesley College she received her JD from
New England School of Law in 1993. Liz quickly returned to the
library profession and received her MLS from Simmons in 1997,
while working at Brandeis University Library. Liz was Senior
Cataloger at Emerson College before taking her present position
at Assumption College. |
