Call for Proposals |
The NELINET IT Conference
is scheduled for Friday, October 13, 2006 at Bentley College in
Waltham, MA.
The theme for this year's conference is:
Social Networking: Plugging New England Libraries into Web
2.0
The conference committee is soliciting proposals for presentations
and a digital poster session. If you have questions regarding your
proposal, please contact
Siobhan Ross (1.800.635.4638 x1923 or ross@nelinet.net).
PRESENTATIONS
The committee is looking for proposals that are project-based; how
are libraries using new technology tools to facilitate a user-mediated
environment?
Some questions to be answered include:
- How did you move the project from good idea to functioning product?
- What players were at the table to make it happen?
- What feedback have you received from your users?
- What would you change in the process if you could roll back
time?
Presentations should be 45-minutes in length, including time for a
question and answer period. Shorter talks can be combined into multi-speaker
sessions; if you have a topic you'd like to share that is shorter
(20 minutes in length), please submit it for review.
Appropriate topics include:
- RSS/using push technologies
- blogs and blogging
- podcasting
- wikis
- tagging
- creating user-centric OPACs / library websites
- IM (Instant Messaging)
- SMS text messaging
To submit your presentation online, visit the Online
Proposal Form. Deadline for submissions is Friday, July 14 at
5:00 pm EDT.
DIGITAL POSTER
SESSIONS
The committee is also looking for a handful of digital poster sessions
to be on view for attendees during breaks. Laptops with Internet access
will be available. Appropriate submissions will be demo-based where
presenters can show off a particular technology and how it's being
used at your library.

Digital Poster Proposal Form. Deadline for submissions is Friday,
