OCLC Connexion Browser Basics for Experienced Catalogers

Description: Experienced catalogers currently using Passport will want to learn how to catalog on OCLC using the new Connexion Browser interface. This course will cover how to use the Browser interface for basic OCLC cataloging functionality such as searching, editing, exporting, using the save file, adding holdings to OCLC, printing labels, and creating original and derived records, as well as features new to Connexion such as controlling headings.
You will learn about:
  • Working with and customizing the interface
  • Entering searches
  • Editing records
  • Adding your holdings
  • Exporting records to your local system
  • Creating original and derived records
  • Using authority control features
Time: Five hours
Location: This full day "Customized Training" session can be brought to your library at any time.
Who should attend: Experienced cataloging staff familiar with the current OCLC Cataloging service utilizing Passport and/or CatME software.
