Description: Learn basic descriptive cataloging principles according to AACR2 Revised. This course covers rules for description as well as choice of main and added entries. The emphasis is on books, but some non-print examples are provided. Rules for constructing headings are covered only briefly.

  • Series entries
  • Notes
  • Choice of main and added entries
Time: Five hours
Location: This full day "Customized Training" session can be brought to your library at any time.
Who should attend: Staff beginning to work in cataloging with little or no knowledge of AACR2 Revised descriptive cataloging rules. Course is appropriate whether you work on OCLC, in MARC format, or in a manual environment.
