Description:
Western Union sent its last telegram on February 3, 2006, citing a percipitous decline in use. The Internet has redefined so many aspects of our lives, including the tools we use for communication. In this hands-on course we will explore instant messaging, voice over IP, text messaging, podcasting and vlogging, screencasting, social networking websites, and virtual worlds, and how libraries can use these technologies. This is a fun, interactive course where you will be exposed to many services that you may have heard about but haven't had a chance to investigate.
You will learn about:
Various software packages used for communication over the Internet
How patrons are using these tools and where the library fits in
Time:
