Description: MARC (Machine-Readable Cataloging) is the basis for bibliographic records in OCLC and most local systems. This course is a basic introduction to reading, understanding, and using MARC. With this knowledge you are better able to understand the indexing, access, and display of bibliographic databases.
You will learn about:
  • MARC definition, history and structure
  • MARC tag groups
  • MARC fields and subfields
Who should attend? Library staff in acquisitions, cataloging, interlibrary loan, reference and systems who work with MARC records.
