| OCLC Telecommunications
Options |
OCLC provides a variety
of updated, cost-effective communications options that are compatible
with new OCLC services and technology. See descriptions of the four
options below.
For more information, visit the OCLC
Communications Options Web page. |
| Internet Access: |
- Preferred method, and most appropriate for the vast majority
of libraries
- Connect directly over the Internet
- Choose a fixed monthly fee for each simultaneous user (Flat
Fee Internet - link to flatfee.htm) or a per minute use charge
|
Dedicated TCP/IP Access:
|
- Connect to OCLC through a dedicated line from a campus or local
area network
- Connection to OCLC is always reliable, avoiding any potential
instability of an Internet connection
- Install a line and hardware on your network to route your traffic
to OCLC
- There is a monthly fee for the connection, in addition to a
monthly fee for each simultaneous user
- OCLC provides reports on both the current status the library's
use and monthly use activity
|
Dial Access (Asynchronous)
Access
or
Dial TCP/IP Access |
- Consider one of these Dial Access methods if you have low OCLC
use and either do not have Internet access, or have some reason
why Internet access will not work for you. Dial Access options
are priced higher and deliver data at a slower rate than Internet
Access.
